Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Optimix Wholesale Global Emerging Markets, Ashoka Whiteoak Emerging Markets, Fidelity Funds, Goldman Sachs, Theleme India Master Fund and Belgrave Investment Fund were among those who participated in the anchor book.

The objective of the issue is to use the net proceeds to partly finance a new facility for a wide range of writing instruments, watercolour pens, markers and highlighters. The remaining funds will be used for general corporate purposes.

Despite ask valuations being on industry average at upper price band of Rs. 790/- and significant competitive pressures in their pencil business we assume the issue is fully priced-in discounting medium term growth. While looking at its robust market share, well established distribution network and strong diversified revenue and profit growth, Investors should look to take market momentum to apply for healthy listing gains.\”

According to Kris Arun Kejriwal, Founder, Kejriwal Research and Investment Services an advisory firm,  DOMS Industries IPO is a ₹1,200 crore issue with a ₹350 crore fresh component and a ₹850 crore OFS. The company\’s main business is making stationary, and it has seven verticals within the stationary business. 

The primary business is making scholastic material writing instruments for students, such as pencils, geometric boxes, erasers, and sharpeners; it also makes ballpoint pens, which it started recently. It makes a lot of art material, which includes colour pencils, paints, paint books, etc. 

The company has decent margins of just under 10%, and it intends to grow its business significantly in the coming years. It had reported a topline of around 1,200 crores for the year ended March 2023, which has grown significantly in the first half. Extrapolating this number, you could easily see the topline of ₹1,400–1,500 crores for the year ending March 2024. 

The company does not intend to take price rises in a significant manner, as the intention is to make products affordable to children, which is their larger segment. I believe investment is warranted in this company, looking at its business and its growth prospects.

DOMS Industries Ltd designs, develops, produces, and markets a broad variety of stationery and art products, primarily under our flagship brand, \”DOMS,\” both domestically and internationally, as of September 30, 2023, according to the company\’s Red Herring Prospectus (RHP).

According to the Technopak Report, DOMS Industries is the second-biggest player in the Indian market for branded \”stationery and art\” products, holding a market share of about 12% by value as of fiscal 2023.

As per the RHP, the company\’s listed peers are Kokuyo Camlin Limited (with a P/E of 64.14), Linc Limited (with a P/E of 28.15), Navneet Education Limited (with a P/E of 15.86), and Flair Writing Industries Limited (with a P/E of 35.76).

The company\’s promoters are Santosh Rasiklal Raveshia, Sanjay Mansukhlal Rajani, Ketan Mansukhlal Rajani, Chandni Vijay Somaiya, and FILA.

DOMS Industries IPO has reserved not less than 75% of the shares in the public issue for Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB), not more than 15% for Non Institutional Investors (NII), and not more than 10% of the offer is reserved for Retail Investors. A discount of ₹75 per equity share is being offered to eligible employees biding in the employee reservation portion.
